I use a Predator radio remote stump grinder which is a low ground pressure tracked machine causing minimal damage to your lawn. The stump cutter will fit through a 26-inch gate (66 centimetres) and is capable of grinding any size tree stump or root. See image to the right.

Removing a tree stump with a tree stump grinder is the cleanest and easiest way to remove a tree stump. There are other ways, such as using a digger, but you still have to dispose of the tree root! Another way of removing your tree roots is by using a tree stump killer. However, this is very slow and can take several years for the process to work. Grinding a tree stump literally, grinds the tree stump into small chips which can easily rot down and either be disposed of or used as a mulch.
In general, when I grind a tree stump I normally backfill the hole made by the stump grinder with the small chips.
